White baguette

A baguette is one of the simplest tests of a bakery's skill: four ingredients — flour, water, yeast, salt — shaped into something that needs to have a crackling thin crust and a soft, slightly chewy interior with just enough open crumb to make it interesting.

Our white baguette (باغيت أبيض) is baked in the classic French style every morning at Khobz. The dough is lightly mixed and then fermented slowly — that's where the flavour comes from, not from additives. We bake it in a hot oven with steam injection, which is what creates that characteristic glossy crust that shatters audibly when you break it.

It's the right baguette for: tearing and dipping in olive oil and za'atar, slicing thin for bruschetta, serving alongside soup or salad, or eating warm from the bag with a generous layer of butter. Also available in a multi-cereal brown version for those who want more texture and fibre.
